Permit deadlines don't wait. Whether you're a contractor in Marmora racing to submit a CAFRA application, an architect in Cape May finalizing a custom home plan, or a builder preparing as-built sets for a closing, fast, accurate blueprint printing in Cape May County is what we do at our shop on Route 50 in Ocean View.
Plan sizes we print every day
- ARCH C (18ร24") โ small-house additions, small commercial
- ARCH D (24ร36") โ the workhorse for residential and most commercial sets
- ARCH E (36ร48") โ large commercial, full architectural sets
- ENG D (22ร34") and ENG E (34ร44") โ civil engineering, site plans, surveys
- Custom sizes up to 36" wide ร any length โ site plans, long elevations, panoramic surveys
Paper choices for plans
20lb bond โ standard plotter paper
The everyday choice. White, opaque, takes black-and-white or color line work cleanly. Used for permit submissions, contractor field sets, owner copies. Affordable.
24lb premium bond
Slightly heavier and crisper. We recommend it for client-facing sets (presentation drawings, final-issue plans) where the extra weight reads as professional.
Vellum (translucent)
Translucent paper, used when plans need to be traced, overlaid, or reproduced as backups. Some older permit offices still want a vellum master.
Mylar (polyester film)
Highly durable, dimensionally stable, archival. Used for as-builts that need to survive jobsite conditions, recorded drawings, and survey originals.
Black-and-white vs. color plans
Most permit sets are black-and-white. Color plotting is more expensive but worth it for:
- Rendered architectural elevations for client presentations
- Civil site plans with color-coded utilities, drainage, easements
- Landscape plans
- Phased construction drawings where each phase is a different color
- Marketing renderings for builders and developers

Sets, binding, and folding
We don't just print loose sheets. Typical contractor needs:
- Folded sets โ accordion-folded to fit in a standard 9ร12 envelope, stapled along the spine. Standard for permit submissions.
- Rolled sets โ banded with a rubber band, no folding. Common for client meetings and field reference.
- Spiral-bound or comb-bound sets โ premium presentation, keeps sheets in order for clients.
- Multiple copies โ most permit applications need 3 sets (owner, AHJ, file). Some bigger projects need 5โ7.
File requirements
- PDF is by far the easiest โ most CAD programs (AutoCAD, Revit, ArchiCAD, Chief Architect, SketchUp) export to PDF directly.
- DWG files we can print from too, but call us โ we may need to confirm layer visibility and lineweights.
- Plot to scale โ make sure your PDF is set up at the correct sheet size (24ร36 plotted means 24ร36 PDF, not "Letter, fit to page").
- Pen weights: if line weights look thin or washed out in your PDF, they'll look the same in print. Bump them up before exporting.
Turnaround
Same-day on most jobs if files arrive by mid-morning. Multi-set permit packages and folded/bound assemblies usually next business day. Need plans for a Friday submission? Drop them off Wednesday and we'll have them folded, stapled, and ready Thursday.
